When Surgery May Help

In cases of shoulder dislocation or subluxation where strengthening and rehabilitation has addressed any muscular imbalance but the symptoms persist or are restrictive then surgical shoulder stabilisation should be considered. In cases of rotator cuff tendonitis that are severe, associated with stiffness or are resistant to rehabilitation and non-operative treatment surgery may be indicated. In these cases the surgery is often undertaken using the arthroscope. In cases of frozen shoulder if steroid injections and physiotherapy are ineffective a manipulation is often helpful. This may on occasions be combined with an arthroscopy.
